THE TWELVES CONNECTIONS

Updated: Aug 31, 2021

The 12 Principles (psukim and ma’amarei Chazal) selected by the Lubavitcher Rebbe,

loosely translated & connected to our lives

The Torah that Moshe commanded us is the inheritance of every Jewish person.

Connection: Become willing to change your way of thinking to be aligned with the G-d-centered truth.

Listen, Yisroel. Hashem is our Power, Hashem is One.

Connection: Submit to no power but Hashem.

In every generation, we are obligated to see ourselves as if we ourselves are going out of Mitzrayim.

Connection: Define yourself by your inherent G-dliness. Act on no other self-definitions.

Every Yid has a portion in the world to come, as it says ‘And your People are all righteous, forever they will inherit the Land; they are the growth of my planting, the work of my Hand, in which to take pride.

Connection: Respect the value of your life and take complete charge of your choices.

“The matter (of loving and fearing Hashem) is very close to you; in your speech and in your heart to do it.”

Connection: Make your G-dly Self practical by acting on its beliefs and desires.

Behold, Hashem is standing over you! Though His glory fills the entire world, His attention is focused on your inner struggles and feelings; He wants to see that you are serving Him.

Connection: Check in with yourself to make sure that you are choosing to serve Hashem – and not your fears and lies.

In the beginning, Hashem created the heavens and the earth

Connection: Demonstrate respect for Hashem’s ownership of the world.

And you shall teach your children and speak with them when you sit at home, when you walk on your way, when you lie down (to sleep) and when you wake up.

Connection: Engage your mind in Hashem’s Wisdom always, everywhere.

If someone says I tried and didn’t succeed—don’t believe them. If someone says I didn’t try and succeeded—don’t believe them. I tried and I succeeded—believe them.

Connection: Invest time and effort in the work of activating your G-dly Self

Love your fellow as yourself. Rabbi Akiva says that this is a great principle of the Torah.

Connection: Do acts of goodness and kindness.

And this is all of man and the purpose of his creation and the creation of all the worlds, upper and lower: so that there will be a home for Hashem here in this world.

Connection: In everything you do, wherever you are, expose the truth of Hashem’s Power & Hashem’s Presence.

Yisroel, rejoice with your Creator! This means that every Yid has it in him to be happy with Hashem’s Happiness. Hashem is rejoicing and happy in His Home, here in this world.

Connection: Rejoice! Consciously invite joy into your heart.
